When turning on the power, the date and time displayed on the camera are not correct.
If you do not use the camera for a long time, the built-in battery may be discharged, and the settings such as the date and time may be reset
Please do either of the following to charge the built-in battery.
Connect the camera to a wall outlet using the (optional) AC adaptor and leave it with the power turned off for more than 24 hours.
or, install a charged battery in the camera and leave it with the power turned off for more than 24 hours.
After charging of the build-in battery is completed, set the date and time again.

Digital IXUS 500 - Why is the image output abnormal?

It has been found, that in rare case, some of the CCDs, used in Canon digital camera and digital video cameras, have a problem that causes abnormal image output.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused. Canon will offer free repairs where an error is caused by this malfunction.
