  • My new Hotpoint cooking appliance smells and smokes, is this normal?

New Hotpoint ovens and hobs can produce a pungent smell upon initial operation as the adhesives and coatings used during manufacturing process are being "burnt off". This is quite normal and any odours will be removed quickly
Ovens: Set the oven to its highest temperature and ensure the room is well-ventilated. Leave the oven on for 2 hours

  • The hotplates are coming on and off

All Indesit electric hotplates employ the same basic operation which is in order to regulate the temperature of the hotplates, a switch mechanism continually powers up the plates then switches them off after a pre-determined time span has elapsed. This enables the user to vary the temperature of the plates individually and is part of the normal operation of any electric hotplate.

If there is a H displayed adjacent to one of the heating zone buttons on your control panel this signifiest hat the relative heating zone is above 60°C. This 'H' symbol will remain until the hob surface has cooled. The 'H' symbol will still be displayed even if you have pressed the On/Off buttonon your hob to turn the hob off.
