  • EOS Utility does not Work Properly / Uninstalling (Deleting) and Re-installing EOS Utility (Windows XP)

    • Please follow the procedure below to uninstall (delete) EOS Utility and then re-install the software.


      ATTENTION

      Exit any applications before uninstalling EOS Utility.

      How to uninstall (delete) the software

      1.  Click [Start],  [Control Panel] .

      2. Click [Add or Remove Programs].

      3. Select [Canon Utilities EOS Utility] and click [Change/Remove].

      4. When the following dialog box appears, click [Yes] to start uninstalling EOS Utility.

      5. When the uninstallation is finished, the following dialog appears.
      Click [OK] to close the window.

      Re-installing EOS Utility

      1. After uninstalling EOS Utility by following one of the procedures above, restart your computer.

      ATTENTION

      To prevent computer malfunctions, always restart your computer after you have uninstalled EOS Utility. Re-installing the software without first restarting your computer is particularly likely to result in computer malfunctions.

      2. Check the version (Ver.) listed on the top of the EOS DIGITAL Solution Disk before installing the software.

      • If your CD-ROM is version (Ver.) 11 or earlier, please make sure that one of the following applications has been installed on your computer.

      If none of the following applications has been installed, please install them from the CD-ROM. 
      - EOS Viewer Utility
      - File Viewer Utility
      - CameraWindow DSLR (*) 
      (*)This is only for users who use both an EOS DIGITAL camera and ZoomBrowser EX Ver.5.x in combination. 
      After that, please download the EOS Utility updater from the Canon Web site to install the software by following the on-screen messages displayed.
      • If your CD-ROM is version (Ver.) 12 or later, please install the software by following the procedures below.


      3. Insert the EOS DIGITAL Solution Disk (CD-ROM) into the computer.
      If the installer is not activated automatically, click [Start], [My Computer], [CD drive], and [setup.exe], in that order.

      4. Select the country where you live, and then click [Next].

      5. Click [Custom Installation] .

      6. Close any other applications, and then click [OK].

      7. In the [Software to be installed] window, select  EOS Utility (  ), and then click  [Next].

      8. Click [Install].

      9. Click [Yes] to accept the License Agreement.

      10. The following window appears, and installation starts.

      11. Click [Next].

      12. The following window appears. Select [No, I will register later.] here, and then click [Next].
      To register your camera on CANON iMAGE GATEWAY, select [Yes, I would.].

      13. Click [OK].

      14. Click [Finish].

      15. If a message appears prompting you to restart the computer, click [Restart], and when the computer has restarted, remove the CD-ROM.
      This completes the procedure for re-installing EOS Utility.

  • Digital Photo Professional does not Work Properly / Uninstalling (Deleting) and Re-installing Digital Photo Professional (Windows Vista)

      How to uninstall (delete) Digital Photo Professional (Windows Vista)

      1. Click  [Start](  ),  [Control Panel].

      2. Click [Uninstall a program].

      3.  Select [Canon Utilities Digital Photo Professional ***](the asterisks represent the version number), and then  click [Uninstall/Change].

      3. When the following dialog box appears, click [Yes] to start uninstalling Digital Photo Professional.

      4. When the uninstallation is finished, the following dialog box appears.
      Click [OK] to close the window.

      Re-installing Digital Photo Professional

      1. After uninstalling Digital Photo Professional by following one of the procedures above, restart your computer.

      ATTENTION

      To prevent computer malfunctions, always restart your computer after you have uninstalled Digital Photo Professional. Re-installing the software without first restarting your computer is particularly likely to result in computer malfunctions.

      2. Check the version (Ver.) listed on the top of the EOS DIGITAL Solution Disk before installing the software.

      • If your CD-ROM is version (Ver.) 13 or earlier, please download the dppxxxen.exe (the "xxx" indicates the version number) updater from the Canon Web site and install the software by following the on-screen messages displayed. If the [User Account Control] screen is displayed, please follow the instructions displayed.
      • If your CD-ROM is version (Ver.) 14 or later, please install the software by following the procedures below.


      3. Insert the EOS DIGITAL Solution Disk (CD-ROM) into the computer.
      If the following window appears, click [Run SETUP.EXE].

      4. Select the country where you live, and then click [Next].

      5. Click [Custom Installation] .

      6. Close any other applications, and then click [OK].

      7. In the [Software to be installed] window, select  Digital Photo Professional (  ), and then click  [Next].

      8. Click [Install].

      9. Click [Yes] to accept the License Agreement.

      10. The following window appears, and installation starts.

      11. Click [Next].

      12. The following window appears. Select [No, I will register later.] here, and then click [Next].
      To register your camera on CANON iMAGE GATEWAY, select [Yes, I would.].

      13. Click [OK].

      14. Click [Finish].

      15. If a message appears prompting you to restart the computer, click [Restart], and when the computer has restarted, remove the CD-ROM.
      This completes the procedure for re-installing Digital Photo Professional.

      Using an uninstaller to delete the software

      1. Click  [Start](  ),  [All Programs].

      2.  Click [Canon Utilities] -  [EOS Utility] -  [EOS Utility Uninstall].

      3. When the [User Account Control] dialog box appears, click [Yes].

      4. When the following dialog box appears, click [Yes] to start uninstalling EOS Utility.

      5. When the uninstallation is finished, the following dialog appears.
      Click [OK] to close the window.

      This completes the process of deleting the software by using the uninstaller. 
      Go to the following Re-installing EOS Utility section to re-install the software.

      What to do if deleting the software by using the uninstaller does not work

      While following the procedure above, if the [The software has been successfully uninstalled.] message is not displayed, please follow the procedure below.

      1. Click  [start],  [Control Panel],  [Uninstall a program*].
      *If the display style is [Large Icons] or [Small Icons], click [Programs and Features]. 

      2. Select  [Canon Utilities EOS Utility] and click [Uninstall/Change].

      3. When the following dialog box appears, click [Yes] to start uninstalling EOS Utility.

      4. When the uninstallation is finished, the following dialog appears.
      Click [OK] to close the window.

      This completes the procedure for what to do if deleting the software by using the uninstaller does not work.

      Re-installing EOS Utility

      1. After uninstalling EOS Utility by following one of the procedures above, restart your computer.

      ATTENTION

      • If the CD-ROM is version (Ver.) 22 or later, the software is compatible with Windows 7. Please install the software by following the procedure below.

      1. Click  [start],  [Control Panel], [Uninstall a program*].

  • EOS 600D Latest firmware update

    • We have found the following 2 phenomena in cameras with firmware version 1.0.0.

      1. The feature guide description of the digital zoom function for movie-shooting that appears on the camera’s LCD monitor needed carification.

      2. In rare cases, a computer connected to the camera with a USB cable cannot recognize the camera.

      Answer :


      We have released firmware version 1.0.1 that includes the following fixes and changes:

      1. Clarifies the feature guide description of the digital zoom function for movie-shooting that appears on the camera’s LCD monitor.

      2. Fixes the phenomenon in which, in rare cases, a computer connected to the camera with a USB cable cannot recognize the camera.


      Important: 
      Firmware version 1.0.1 is for cameras with firmware up to version 1.0.0. If the camera's firmware is already version 1.0.1, it is not necessary to update the firmware.

      Preparations for the firmware update:

      In the folder for the firmware you downloaded are the firmware (file name: CCF11101.FIR, file size: 12,232,076 bytes) and instructions for the firmware update procedures (a PDF file in five languages: Japanese, English, French, Spanish, and Simplified Chinese). Before starting the firmware update procedures, please be sure to carefully confirm your understanding of these instructions.

      Description

      ZoomBrowser EX 6.7.2 Updater is software that will update a previously installed version of ZoomBrowser EX to ZoomBrowser EX 6.7.2. It is necessary that the previous version of your software have been installed when you use this updater on your computer.

      Precaution

      (1)RAW Image Task (for RAW image processing) is not included in the ZoomBrowser EX 6.7.2 Updater software. When using RAW Image Task in ZoomBrowser EX 6.6.0d, after installing ZoomBrowser EX 6.7.2 Updater, download and install ZoomBrowser EX 6.1.1a Updater. In addition, there have been no additions of supported models for RAW Image Task from ZoomBrowser EX 6.1.1. RAW Image Task does not support EOS DIGITAL/PowerShot G10/PowerShot G11/PowerShot G12/PowerShot S90/PowerShot S95/PowerShot SX1 IS(RAW model) cameras released after EOS 50D, and users of these models are advised to use Digital Photo Professional to edit and develop RAW images.

      Precautions for Windows Vista /7 Users To Users of Windows Vista/7: Users who purchased Windows Vista for the first time can use this updater to install the application. In this case, please have the CD-ROM (DIGITAL CAMERA Solution Disk) bundled with the products ready. 1.Download and start this updater. 2.Insert the CD-ROM (DIGITAL CAMERA Solution Disk) into the computer's drive. 3.Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
      Precautions for version 3.x Users To Users of ZoomBrowser 3.x: 
      -In order to update to ZoomBrowser EX 6.5.1, it is necessary that ZoomBrowser EX 3 be installed on the target computer.

Therefore, images in the Library One folder, which was the default in ZoomBrowser EX 3, cannot be viewed in ZoomBrowser EX 4, 5 or 6. To see the images in the Library One folder, use Windows Explorer to move the images to a location outside the Program Files folder. * Please move the folders after converting the database file.

      Setup

      1.Check whether ZoomBrowser EX 3.x, 4.x, 5.x or 6.x is already installed on the PC. When using Windows Vista/7, check whether you have an installation CD (Canon Digital Camera Solution Disk or EOS Digital Solution Disk) that includes ZoomBrowser EX. 
      2.Download zb672upd-en.exe from the download page. Save the zb672upd-en.exe file to a folder of your preference on your computer. 
      3.Double-click the zb672upd-en.exe file. The ZoomBrowser EX installation will start. (If the User Account Control window appears, follow the on-screen instructions to proceed.)
      4.Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. If ZoomBrowser EX is being installed for the first time, the installation CD prepared in Step 2 will be required. 
      5.After the installation is complete, the ZoomBrowser EX installer may ask to restart the computer. In this case, restart the computer. If the installation is completed properly, the downloaded zb672upd-en.exe file will not be necessary. 
      6.ZoomBrowser EX 3.x users need to carry out the tasks that are described in the precautions. 1) Transfer the database files. 2) Move images out of the Library One Folder.

Because the internal JPEG images in RAW images have become higher resolution and more practical than before, those functions for processing and displaying RAW images by default and for printing have been discontinued in ZoomBrowser EX 6.7. (The other functions for displaying and printing JPEG images saved in RAW images can be used as is.) Please use the appropriate version of Digital Photo Professional to process RAW images. 

      4. Windows XP SP2 is no longer supported 
      If you are using ZoomBrowser EX on a PC with Windows XP, it is advisable to update the OS to Service Pack 3, and then use the software. 

      5. Support Auto Update (only for the Japanese version) 
      In the Japanese version, ZoomBrowser EX 6.7 has the [Update to the latest version] menu added to the help menu. With this menu, functions that can be used in ZoomBrowser EX will be updated to their latest versions. (The PC should be connected to the Internet beforehand.)
