Macintosh: Installing the Product Software in Mac OS X 10.6 and OS X 10.7 for a USB Connection

    • Answer
    • Introduction
This document contains instructions on how to install your HP print driver and software in Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and OS X 10.7 (Lion) for a USB cable connection. A print driver is a software program that allows the computer to run the product. HP offers a variety of print drivers and software on the product CD, the HP Web site, and on Apple Software Updates. The available software varies by product.
CAUTION:Do not reinstall HP software that supports earlier versions of Mac OS X. Older software is not compatible with Snow Leopard or Lion.
Many HP drivers are already built into the Mac operating system, and you can use those drivers by adding the product to the print queue. You can also install the drivers with Apple Software Update. The full HP software package, including the HP print driver, HP Utility, HP Scan software, and the HP fax driver (if applicable), is available in Mac OS X.
NOTE:If you are trying to resolve a particular issue or error message, reinstalling a driver might not resolve the issue. Unless you know that reinstalling is the correct solution, search for help documents that pertain to your specific issue or error message.
