What is BT Call Minder?

BT Call Minder is the multi-feature answering service that lets you retrieve messages from any phone, anywhere. If you miss a call because you're on the phone or Internet, BT Call Minder will take a message and ring you shortly after you've hung up or logged off and tell you that you have a message.

• Create your own personal greeting
• Choose the number of rings before a call is answered
• Store up to 30 messages - of up to 5 minutes long for 30 days
• BT's Missed Calls Service identifies up to 3 callers who have dialled and hung up without leaving a message (assuming they have not withheld their number)

I’ve forgotten my Call Minder PIN number - what can I do?

You can change your Call Minder PIN without needing to know the old number, as long as this is done from the line on which Call Minder is installed (this will not work remotely). Just follow the prompts - the instructions are in the Message Retrieval Options.

How do I access my Call Minder messages when away from my home/office?

You can access messages remotely using your PIN, but you must use a touch-tone phone. Dial the number on which Call Minder is installed, and when Call Minder answers press * to break into the greeting and follow this with your PIN. The system will then transfer to the message retrieval part of the dialogue and then proceed as normal.

How do I know if I have any messages with Call Minder?

Pick up the handset and listen to the tone. If the tone is more rapid than usual, then new messages are waiting for you. If you are not sure whether the tone is different or not, then dial 185 (from your own phone) and check with the system.

What are Call Minder Extensions?

Call Minder Extensions has all the same features as Call Minder - plus the added convenience of up to eight separate message boxes for your phone line. Call Minder Extensions is especially useful for:

• Busy family homes
• Shared accommodation such as student digs
• Home workers and small businesses

It means that everyone in the house can get straight to their own messages without listening to everyone else's. And because every message box has its own unique PIN, each one is totally private.

I keep asking the Call Minder system to delete my messages, but it still saves some. What is going wrong?

After each message plays the system will ask you whether it should remove the message. Double check that you are saying ‘yes’ and/or pressing ‘1’ for ‘yes’ on a touch-tone phone.

If this is not the problem, the default response is to save the messages, so one of the following may be the cause:

• Background noise may be confusing the system
• The system may not understand your voice commands. Try using the buttons only to see if this is the cause.

If you have ruled out the possibilities above and still have problems, you should report the fault.

Is my alarm system compatible with Call Minder?

Some social alarm and burglar alarm equipment may not be compatible with BT Call Minder. Please check with your alarm supplier.
