How should I use the built-in USB cable and the USB jack? What is the difference?

Both are for the USB connection. Use either of them according to your purpose and the device to be connected.
- Built-in USB cable is for charging the battery from devices such as computers.
- USB jack is for connecting to the recording media such as an external hard disk drive*, DVD Writer DVDirect Express (VRD-P1).
*The optional Camcorder Cable VMC-UAM1 is necessary for connecting.
