This message appears if you try to attach an incompatible battery to your camcorder.

If you have multiple batteries, try another one as the battery may be damaged.

If the problem persists even if you try the above, the camcorder may need to be repaired.

Battery performance decreases with temperature.

In cold environments, we recommend keeping battery in a warm place before using, such as the inside of a coat.

Batteries can recover their power when they warm up.

The battery cannot be charged.

When charging while the battery is attached to the camcorder:

• Make sure the battery is firmly attached and the AC adaptor is securely connected. If the Station is supplied with the camcorder, make sure that the camcorder is attached properly.
• Turn off the camcorder. Battery is not charged if the camcorder is turned on.

When using the battery charger:

• If the CHG (charge) lamp does not light or blink while charging, the terminals may be dirty. Wipe the dust away with a dry cloth and charge the battery again. Do not touch the terminals with your hands or metals.
• Use Sony battery and battery charger. The use of counterfeit products may cause a malfunction.We recommend charging the battery under the environment of 10°C to 30°C (50°F to 86°F) until the CHG (charge) lamp goes off.If the problem persists even if you try the above, the camcorder may need to be repaired.

Check the following.

• The CHARGE lamp may flash if the battery is over-discharged, such as when the battery has not been charged for a long time or right after the purchase. In this case, the symptom will be corrected by removing the battery and charging it again.
• If the CHARGE lamp does not light or blink while charging, the terminals may be dirty. Wipe the dust away on the terminal with a dry cloth, charge the battery again.Do NOT touch the terminal with your hands or metals.
• Use Sony battery and battery charger. The use of counterfeit products may cause a malfunction.
• We recommend charging the battery under the environment of 10°C to 30°C (50°F to 86°F) until the CHARGE lamp goes off. Under the other environments, the battery may not be charged efficiently.
• Charge the battery inserted into the camera after turning off the camera.
• Check if the battery is inserted into the camera properly as a battery direction may be confusing.If the problem persists even if you try the above, the camera may need to be repaired.

If the camcorder's power is on, it is set to the USB connection mode and cannot be charged.

Turn off the camcorder to charge.

You can charge the battery by connecting the Built-in USB Cable to a wall outlet (wall socket) using anAC-U501AD/AC-U50AG USB charger/AC Adaptor (sold separately).

You cannot use a Sony CP-AH2R or CP-AL portable power supply device (sold separately) to charge the camcorder.

To charge the battery with USB connection, you can use the Built-in USB Cable only. The USB jack cannot be used for charging.

The battery may not be fully charged and run out soon when its temperature is extremely high or low. This is to prolong the battery life, and not a malfunction.

Charge it at room temperature.
