BT Openzone – Connection Manager is trying to connect me to a BT Openzone hotspot and it keeps failing. Why is this happening?

    • Answer
    • BT Openzone have 2 Wi-Fi networks, their public network and their FON network. The public network includes sites such as hotels, coffee shops and motorway services and O2 Mobile Broadband customers can use these hotspots when they are out and about. The FON network consists of BT Broadband customers who allow other BT Broadband customers to share some of their Wi-Fi. O2 Mobile Broadband does not cover the use of these hotspots.

BT use the same name for both of their networks and Connection Manager will attempt to connect you to a FON hotspot if it finds one available. We’re working with BT to find a solution to this problem but in the mean time we recommend that you only try to connect to BT Openzone hotspots that are in the Connection Manager Wi-Fi Hotspot Directory.
