How to optimize your battery life on an iPhone?

    • Answer
    • All modern phones have functions that drain battery power, so in order to help you get the best out of your phone we have drawn up a list of things to try in order maximise your phone’s battery life.

turn off your Bluetooth when you're not using it

Bluetooth is a wireless connection that can receive and transmit information, but to do this it consumes battery power. To maximise battery life, you should switch off Bluetooth when you’re not using a Bluetooth headset, transferring files or sending information to someone. To make this easier some phones allow you to add a shortcut to the home screen to make it easier to activate/deactivate Bluetooth.

To turn off Bluetooth you should:

      1. select Settings
      2. select General
      3. select Bluetooth
      4. slide status to Off

      lower your screen's brightness

Most mobile phone displays are set to full brightness at first start up this can put a strain on your battery. However, nearly all phones have the facility to turn this down, but don’t turn it down too much or the screen won’t be visible in daylight. Another thing to look for is a setting which adjusts how long the backlight stays on for. To get the best battery life turn it down to around 15 seconds, or less if possible.

To reduce the screen brightness you should:

      1. select Settings
      2. select Brightness
      3. then adjust to a lower level that is suitable for you

watch out for GPRS 3G and Wi-Fi

If you aren't planning to use the web or download then switching off 3G connectivity will deliver a longer battery life. To do this you need to switch from dual mode to GSM only in your settings. Another feature that can affect your battery life is WiFi, make sure this is switched off when its not in use.

To change to using GSM (2G) only you should:

      1. select Settings
      2. select General
      3. select Network
      4. slide Enable 3G status to Off

To turn off your Wi-Fi you should:

      1. select Settings
      2. select Wi-Fi
      3. ensure that's turned off
