[50i] records using the interlace scanning system, and [50p]/[25p] records using the progressive scanning system.

[50p] records 50 frames per second, while [25p] records 25 frames per second. If you set the frame rate to [25p], you can record movies which provide an atmosphere closer to that of film images.

[50i] is recommended for normal recording.The interlace scanning system reads even-numbered and odd-numbered scanning lines alternately. Meanwhile, the progressive scanning system reads even-numbered and odd-numbered scanning lines simultaneously thus it has double information per unit timea

* compared with the interlace scanning system.

If you do not use the camcorder for a long time, the built-in battery may be discharged, and the settings such as the date and time may be reset.

In this case, the screen to set the date and time appears when turning on the power. Set the date and time on the screen.

Also, do either of the following to charge the built-in battery.

• Connect the camcorder to a wall outlet using the AC adaptor, and leave it with the power turned off for more than 24 hours.
• Install a charged battery to the camcorder and leave it with the power turned off for more than 24 hours.

If the problem persists even if you try the above, the camcorder may need to be repaired.

Malfunction of the lens cover parts may occur. The camcorder may need to be repaired.

When you use a wide conversion lens (including wide-end conversion lens), select [MENU] --> [Show others] --> [CONVERSION LENS] (under the [SHOOTING SET] category) --> [WIDE CONVERTION].

This function optimizes a compensation for camera shake and a focus for the conversion lens.

Note:

Focus mechanism of the wide-end conversion lens is suitable for wide-end shooting. It may be difficult to focus if you zoom toward telephoto-end.

When you use a wide-conversion lens (including wide-end conversion lens), you need to change the camera setting to optimize a compensation for camera shake and focus for the lens.

Select [MENU] --> [Camera/Mic] --> (Camera Settings icon) --> [Conversion Lens] --> [Wide Conversion].

Note:

The built-in flash cannot be used when a wide-conversion lens is attached.- When shooting with the NightShot function, remove a wide-conversion lens beforehand.

(For models with NightShot function only)

Focus mechanism of the wide-end conversion lens is suitable for wide-end shooting. It may be difficult to focus if you zoom toward telephoto.

If abnormal noise which is distinctly different from normal operation sound is heard, the driving part may have problems.

Consult with the shop you purchase the camcorder or send it out for repairs.

Recorded movies and images will not be deleted by resetting the camcorder.

However, all the settings including date and time will be canceled and must be set again.

If this happens, follow the steps below using the supplied AC adaptor as the power source.

• Turn on the camcorder.
• Disconnect all the cables and cords except the AC adaptor, and remove the memory card.
• Select [CALIBRATION] from the menu.
• Touch the [X] displayed on the screen with the paint pen.

* Do not use a sharp-pointed object. The surface of the screen may be damaged.
* You can't calibrate the LCD screen if it is rotated, or closed with the screen facing out.

If the problem persists even if you try the above, the camcorder may need to be repaired.

If the symptom is not improved even if you try the above, the camcorder may need to be repaired.

If this happens, follow the steps below using the supplied AC adaptor as the power source.

1. Turn on the camcorder.
2. Disconnect all the cables and cords except the AC adaptor, and remove the memory card.
3. Select [Calibration] from the menu.
4. Touch [X] displayed on the screen with the corner of memory card or the similar object three times.

* Do not use a sharp-pointed object. The surface of the screen may be damaged.

* You cannot calibrate the LCD screen if it is rotated, or closed with the screen facing out.If the problem persists even if you try the above, the camcorder may need to be repaired.

You can check it by setting [GUIDEFRAME] to [ON].

With this setting, the guideframe will appear on the LCD screen so that you can check the composition of the subject.

* The guideframe will not be recorded.

You can check it by setting [GUIDEFRAME] to [ON].

With this setting, the guideframe will appear on the LCD screen and viewfinder so that you can check the composition of the subject.

* The guideframe will not be recorded.

The camera or battery is heated to some extent during operation because the power consumed by the camera is partly converted to heat.

• If an error message which warns high temperature appears, turn off the camcorder and wait for a while until it cools down.
• If it is extremely hot, it may be a malfunction.
• If the problem persists even if you try the above, the camcorder may need to be repaired.

• Contact your Sony dealer or local authorized Sony service facility.

Some AVCHD Handycams released in 2011 does not output composite video signal when remote-controlled through A/V Remote Connector, thus the image is not displayed on the LCD screen of the marine pack. This is a specification of the camera, not a malfunction.

The camcorders released on 2010 or before, such as HDR-CX115E,  will output composite video signal even in this case.

Note: we do not guarantee the operation with a marine pack of other  manufacturers.
