Why is there a cancellation fee for the energyshare tariff?

- It's a British renewable electricity tariff for the same price as our Standard tariff - plus your choice of energy efficiency gadget and a £10 donation by British Gas, on your behalf, towards funding sustainable community projects. But all this is only possible if our customers commit for 12 months. Of course, you can leave before the term is up - but if so, we'd have to charge you a cancellation fee of £55 to cover the gadget, our donation and a small admin cost.
