  • The message "Cannot use this battery in the camcorder." or "Use the "InfoLITHIUM" battery pack." appears on the LCD screen.

  • The battery remaining indicator decreases so fast that I can record very few movies / photos under low temperature.

      When charging while the battery is attached to the camcorder:

      • Make sure the battery is firmly attached and the AC adaptor is securely connected. If the Station is supplied with the camcorder, make sure that the camcorder is attached properly.
      • Turn off the camcorder. Battery is not charged if the camcorder is turned on.

      When using the battery charger:

      • If the CHG (charge) lamp does not light or blink while charging, the terminals may be dirty. Wipe the dust away with a dry cloth and charge the battery again. Do not touch the terminals with your hands or metals.
      • Use Sony battery and battery charger. The use of counterfeit products may cause a malfunction.We recommend charging the battery under the environment of 10°C to 30°C (50°F to 86°F) until the CHG (charge) lamp goes off.If the problem persists even if you try the above, the camcorder may need to be repaired.

  • Is the camcorder charged while it is connected to the computer with the built-in USB cable?

  • Which USB Charger can I use?

    • You can charge the battery by connecting the Built-in USB Cable to a wall outlet (wall socket) using anAC-U501AD/AC-U50AG USB charger/AC Adaptor (sold separately).

      You cannot use a Sony CP-AH2R or CP-AL portable power supply device (sold separately) to charge the camcorder.

      To charge the battery with USB connection, you can use the Built-in USB Cable only. The USB jack cannot be used for charging.

  • The battery runs out soon.

    • The battery may not be fully charged and run out soon when its temperature is extremely high or low. This is to prolong the battery life, and not a malfunction.

  • I connected the camcorder to the computer, but the battery cannot be charged.

    • Check the following:

      • Disconnect the USB cable from the computer and connect it firmly again.
      • Turn off the camcorder and close the LCD screen. The battery is not charged if the camcorder is turned on. Also the battery may not be charged if the LCD screen is open.
      • If the computer is in the Standby mode, the battery may not be charged. Make sure the computer is not in the Standby mode.
      • USB connection may not be successful if you connect the USB cable before turning on the computer. Always turn on the computer first, wait until it can be operated, then connect the camcorder.
      • If the computer is a notebook type, use the AC adaptor for the power supply for the computer.
      • If the camera is heated, the battery may not be charged.If the problem persists even if you try the above, the camcorder may need to be repaired.

      Check the following:

      • Make sure the camcorder is connected to the computer firmly with the built-in USB cable. Disconnect the cable and connect it again.
      • Turn off the camcorder. The battery is not charged if the camcorder is turned on.

      With Built-in USB Cable (not using the USB connection support cable)

      Times measured with the camcorder at 25 degrees C (77 degrees F). 
      10 degrees C to 30 degrees C (50 degrees F to 86 degrees F) is recommended.
