Managing additional users on your household account

    • Answer
    • This article explains how to add, update and remove extra people on your SKY household account. It uses clear steps, safe defaults, and shows how to let others watch SKY or use apps without giving away full control.

Includes steps for Sky iD linking, Sky Protect user setup, and troubleshooting common problems.

      What is an additional user

An additional user is someone you permit to access parts of your SKY services. They have a separate Sky iD that you link to your household account. This keeps each person’s login separate while letting them stream, use apps, or receive alerts without sharing your main password.

Step-by-step: Add a user to your SKY account

      1. Ask them to create a Sky iD

Each person must create their own Sky iD using a personal email address. Point them to the Sky iD signup page so they can make a username and password: https://skyid.sky.com/signup.

      2. Link the Sky iD to your account

After they have a Sky iD, link it to your household using the official linking page: https://skyid.sky.com/serviceSignup/skycomlinked.

Recommended: Use the 9-digit viewing card number to create a Secondary Sky iD with limited access.
Other methods include your 12-digit Sky account number or the last 6 digits of the paying bank account.
Avoid linking as an Authorised Sky iD unless you trust the person to manage billing and settings.

      3. Confirm the link

Once linked the additional user can log in and use apps such as Sky Go or My Sky depending on how you configured their access. If they need device access (Sky Protect), give them that separately from the Protect app.

      Understanding access levels

SKY commonly uses two access levels. Choosing the correct one avoids accidental changes to billing or account settings.

Secondary Sky iD — Limited access: streaming and apps, but no billing or full account control.
Authorised Sky iD — Full access: view bills, make changes, and manage account settings.

Tip: For household members use Secondary Sky iD unless they explicitly need authority to manage payments or services.

Adding users on the Sky Protect app

To share home devices and alarms, add users inside Sky Protect. Open the Sky Protect app and use the People tab to invite someone by email or phone.

Open Sky Protect and tap the People tab.
Choose Add User and enter name, email and phone number.
Invitee gets an email to accept and set up access.

Secondary Protect users can arm/disarm and receive alerts. Primary users control emergency contacts and user removal.

      Removing or updating users

If someone moves out or no longer needs access, remove them from your account to keep control and privacy.

Sign in to your SKY account and go to Account Settings.
Find Additional Users (or People) and choose the user to remove.
Select Remove to revoke access immediately.

If you gave someone Authorised Sky iD by mistake, remove them and re-add using the 9-digit viewing card to set them as Secondary.

      Troubleshooting

Stuck in a loop when linking

If the linking page reloads or sends you back to the same screen, try these quick fixes.

Make sure the new user has completed Sky iD registration before linking.
Scroll to the bottom of the linking page to reveal hidden options.
Clear the browser cache or try a different browser.
Open the linking page directly: https://skyid.sky.com/serviceSignup/skycomlinked.

      Best practices

Follow these simple rules to keep your account secure and everyone connected without issues.

Give most household members a Secondary Sky iD for everyday use.
Never share your main account login; each person should use their own Sky iD.
Review added users every few months and remove anyone no longer using the service.
Use emergency contacts in Sky Protect so someone else is notified if you don’t respond to an alert.
