How to connect an iPhone to a Bluetooth device

By enabling Bluetooth on your phone you can:

• Use a Bluetooth wireless head piece to make calls 
• Listen to music
• Play games and video
• Share music and videos with other BlackBerry users or other phones

Switching on Bluetooth From the Home screen select Manage Connections  and tickBluetooth.

1. From the Home screen select Manage Connections  and tick Bluetooth.
2. Click Search or Listen.
3. If necessary, click a Bluetooth enabled device.
4. If necessary, type the passkey for the Bluetooth-enabled device (e.g. headset) on your phone.
5. If necessary, for some types of pairings (e.g. two phones), you may need to approve the pairing on both phones or confirm a passkey from the other phone.
6. If you have another Bluetooth enabled phone that this phone is trying to pair with your BlackBerry (for example sending and receiving files between handsets) you will need to make your BlackBerry discoverable, Within Bluetooth set-up, either

a. Handheld software 6.0 or later - Change the Discoverable option to Yes, or

b. Handheld software 5.0 or earlier - Within Bluetooth set-up, select Options and then set Discoverable to Yes.

1. From the Home screen select Manage Connections  and tick Bluetooth and select Bluetooth Connections. Select the menu  key and select Options
2. Change Device Name her and enter the name you want other people to see.
3. Select Save

1. From the Home screen select Manage Connections  and tick Bluetooth and select Bluetooth Connections
2. Select the Menu  and then Options
3. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled
4. Scroll to the Discoverable: dropdown box then press the Trackpad/Trackball key
5. Scroll to No, then press the Trackpad/Trackball

Verify that your BlackBerry is compatible with the Bluetooth enabled phone. For more information, see the documentation that came with the Bluetooth enabled phone.

• Allow the Bluetooth enabled phone to discover your phone. In the Bluetooth setup application, click Allow another device to find me.
• Turn off encryption for Bluetooth connections between your phone and the Bluetooth enabled phone. In the device options, click Bluetooth. Click a Bluetooth enabled device. Click Device Properties. Change the Encryption field to Disabled. Press the Menu  key. Click Save.

To connect using Bluetooth:

1. Tap Settings

2. Tap Bluetooth

3. Slide the Status bar to On

4. The phone will then search for Bluetooth devices

5. Select the device you want to pair with.

For two bluetooth devices to work together they must be "paired" correctly. There are four main steps to pair two bluetooth devices.

1. Set your first bluetooth device in pairing mode. Note: This is your bluetooth headset or other bluetooth accessory.

2. Set your second bluetooth device to Search for Devices. Note: This is a mobile phone or computer.

3. Select the device you want to pair with. You may be asked to enter a passkey to pair with the first device.

4. The first device will confirm the passkey if needed and return a confirmation message to the second device. Once confirmed, both bluetooth devices are paired.

Please make sure your bluetooth accessory is in pairing mode. Turning your Bluetooth on doesn't always mean it is in pairing mode. Take a look at the device's User's Guide for details.

Pairing mode can have a time limit. If you're not able to find the Bluetooth device you were searching for, the pairing mode time limit may run out. You'll need to set your Bluetooth accessory to pairing mode again.

X10 and X8

To turn on your Bluetooth:

1. Press the Menu key
2. Tap Settings
3. Tap Wireless controls
4. Tap Bluetooth so a tick appears next to it
5. Tap Discoverable, so other devices in the area can see your phone (this will only be for 2 minutes).

To change your phones Bluetooth name:

1. Press the Menu key
2. Tap Settings
3. Tap Wireless controls
4. Tap Bluetooth so a tick appears next to it
5. Tap Bluetooth settings
6. Tap Device name
7. Tap the text box and enter your new name then tap OK.

To pair with another Bluetooth device, both devices will need to be in the same room with Bluetooth turned ON.

1. From the Homescreen touch Settings
2. On the Settings menu scroll down and touchGeneral
3. Touch Bluetooth
4. Touch the device you want to pair with
5. Enter a PIN and ask the user of the device you want to pair with to enter the same PIN on their device
6. Touch Pair
7. The devices will now be paired.

1. Press Menu
2. Select Manage Connections
3. Select Bluetooth to turn Bluetooth on
4. Select Bluetooth Connections
5. Press Menu
6. Select Options
7. Delete the default name and enter the name you want to use
8. Press Menu
9. Select Save.

To pair with another Bluetooth device, both devices will need to be in the same room with Bluetooth turned ON.

1. Press Menu
2. Select Manage Connections
3. Select Bluetooth to turn Bluetooth on
4. Select Bluetooth Connections
5. Press Menu
6. Select Add device
7. If you are the person searching select Search, if the other device user is searching for your device select Listen
8. Enter a passkey of your choice (e.g. 1234)
9. Your devices will now be paired.

To send content to another Bluetooth device, both devices will need to be in the same room with Bluetooth turned ON.

1. Press Menu
2. Select Manage Connections
3. Select Bluetooth to turn Bluetooth on
4. Press the Back key
5. Select Media
6. Select the media you want to send
7. Press Menu
8. Select Send Using Bluetooth
9. The recipient device will need to accept the file transfer
10. Transfer starts.

• From the Home screen, tap the menu button.
• Tap Settings.
• Tap Wireless & networks.
• Tap Bluetooth.
• Tap Bluetooth settings.
• Tap Discoverable.
• Bluetooth is now enabled.

• From the Home screen, tap the Menu button.
• Tap Settings.
• Tap Wireless & network.
• Tap Bluetooth settings.
• Tap Bluetooth.
• Tap Visible to enable visibility for other bluetooth devices.
• Bluetooth is now enabled.

how to pair with a Bluetooth enabled device

You must pair your BlackBerry® device with a Bluetooth enabled device before you can connect to it. For more information about preparing the Bluetooth enabled device for pairing, see the documentation that came with the Bluetooth enabled device.

1. open the applications tray.

2. tap on Setup icon  

3. make sure Bluetooth® is switched on (see above).

4. tap Bluetooth icon

5. tap Add New Device

6. change your device name if needed, tap OK

7. tap Search, your phone will now look for Bluetooth devices in range.

8. tap the Bluetooth® enabled device you want to pair.

9. if necessary, perform one of the following actions:

If the Bluetooth enabled device does not have a keyboard (for example, a headset), on your BlackBerry® device, type the pairing passkey that is provided in the documentation that came with the Bluetooth enabled device. Note: Sometimes it is not necessary to use the passkey.

If the Bluetooth enabled device has a keyboard (for example, a laptop), type a pairing passkey of your own choosing on both devices.

connect to a paired Bluetooth enabled device

To perform this task Bluetooth® must be turned on and your BlackBerry® device must be paired with the Bluetooth enabled device.

Your BlackBerry® device might attempt to connect to the device automatically when Bluetooth technology is turned on and the devices are within range.

1. open the applications tray.

2. tap on Setup icon  

3. make sure Bluetooth® is switched on (see above)

4. tap Bluetooth icon

5. tap the paired device you wish to connect to

6. tap on Connect from the pop up menu

To disconnect from a paired Bluetooth® enabled device, tap on the device in the list. Tap Disconnect from the pop up menu.
