  • What is a BT Hub Phone?

    • The BT Hub Phone is a digital cordless telephone that works with the BT Home Hub 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0. (However, the Hub Phone isn't compatible with the BT Home Hub 3 which doesn't support Broadband Talk.) You use the Hub Phone to make calls over your BT Broadband line. The Hub Phone will also make and receive landline calls.

Using the Hub Phone with Broadband Talk gives you many of the benefits of having an extra line or lines.

You can have up to five Hub Phones connected to your Home Hub 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 at the same time, as well as a phone connected to the port at the back of these versions of the Hub. You can make up to three outgoing calls simultaneously - two from Hub Phone handsets and one from any phone plugged into the back of the Home Hub.

  • What is the range of my BT Hub Phone?

    • The BT Hub Phone has a range of up to 300 metres outdoors when there is a clear line of sight between the Home Hub and the handset. Indoors, the range could be reduced to 50 metres. Thick stone walls can severely affect the range.

The range icon on your handset indicates when you are in range. When it flashes, you are out of range.

When you move out of range of the base, you will hear the out of range tone. This tone is repeated until you move back into range.

  • Using the BT Hub Phone

    • The BT Home Hub 3 isn't compatible with any of the BT Hub Phones and doesn't support BT Broadband Talk.

The BT Hub Phone is a digital cordless telephone that works with your BT Home Hub 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0. You use it to make calls over your BT Broadband line. The Hub Phone will also make and receive landline calls.

      Getting started:

To get started with your BT Hub Phone, follow the set up instructions in the quickstart guide that is in your welcome pack.

Direct incoming landline calls to your Hub Phone:

You can change whether your BT Hub Phone rings for landline and/or Broadband Talk calls. On the computer connected to your Home Hub, go to http://bthomehub.home and go to the 'telephone settings' page.

Make outgoing landline calls on your Hub Phone:

Once BT Broadband Talk is set up, pick up your BT Hub Phone and dial 5 to toggle between the landline service and the broadband network.

When you are connected to broadband network, you will hear a higher dialling tone. When you are connected to the landline service, you will hear the normal dialling tone. Remember that you'll need to be connected to the broadband network to take advantage of BT Broadband Talk calling rates.

  • Which phones will ring for BT Broadband Talk and standard landline calls?

      • When someone calls your Broadband Talk number, only your Broadband Talk phone(s) will ring.
      • When a caller dials your standard telephone number, any telephone connected to your standard telephone line will ring. Plus, if you have a BT Home Hub 2.0, then your Hub phone(s) will also ring. (This default setting can be changed via the telephone settings page in the Hub Manager at http://bthomehub.home.
      • If you have a BT Home Hub 1.0 or BT Home Hub 1.5 and you want your Hub Phones to ring when someone calls your standard telephone number then you need to change the settings in the Hub Manager. Log in to http://bthomehub.home and go to the telephone settings page.)

We recommend that you always keep a telephone connected to your standard telephone line.
Why we recommend you connect a phone to both lines

  • Why doesn't my Home Hub phone ring when I have an incoming call?

  • My Hub Phone 2.1 was registered to my Hub 2.0 but now says 'Searching for Hub'

    • If your Hub Phone 2.1 was previously working fine with the Hub, a simple power cycle of the Hub Phone (turn the phone off, then on again) should fix the problem. Before doing this you should make sure that your Hub is on (not in Power Save mode) and that you're in range of the Hub.

If you've recently received a replacement Home Hub 2.0 you'll need to register your Hub Phone to the new Hub:

      • Select Menu
      • Scroll to Register Handset and press select
      • Press the Wireless Association button on the side of your Hub. The phone and wireless lights will start flashing. Note: in some cases you may need to hold the Wireless Association button for up to three seconds before lights start to flash. Press OK on your Hub Phone.
      • "Registering. Please wait" will appear on the handset screen, followed by "Handset registered".
