Connecting your Nintendo Wii with a cable

    • Answer
    • These instructions will help you connect your Nintendo Wii to O2 Home Broadband with a cable. You'll need to buy the optional Nintendo Wii LAN Adapter in order to do this.

If you don't want to do this, you could connect wirelessly instead. The Wii has wireless built in, so you can connect to O2 Home Broadband without buying any new equipment.

If you still want to go ahead and use a cable, follow these instructions. As well as the Nintendo Wii LAN Adapter, you’ll need a standard network cable. You can use the yellow Ethernet cable we sent you when you first joined O2 Home Broadband. Or most computer shops will be able to sell you one (it can be any colour you like).

Make sure the DSL/Broadband light on the O2 wireless box is lit green.  Then follow these steps:

      1. With your Wii turned off, plug the Wii LAN Adapter into the USB port on the back of the Wii console.

      2. Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into one of the yellow sockets on the back of the O2 wireless box.

      3. Plug the other end of the Ethernet cable into the socket on the LAN Adapter.

      4. Turn on your Wii.

      5. On the main menu, click the 'Wii' button in the bottom left corner.

      6. You'll see the settings screen. Click on 'Wii Settings'.

      7. Now, in 'Wii System Settings', click the blue arrow on the right to see the second screen of options.

      8. Click the 'Internet' button.

      9. Select 'Connection Settings'.

      10. Select an open connection from the list that appear. Open connections will have None next to them.

      11. Select 'Wired Connection'.

      12. Click 'OK' on the next screen.

      13. Your console will try to connect to the O2 wireless box.

Once this succeeds, you'll be online and all ready to go.
