    Connecting your PSP wirelessly

    • Answer
    • These instructions will help you connect your Sony PSP to O2 Home Broadband wirelessly. Once you're online, you can play games with other people, browse the Internet and more.

If you haven't already connected to the Internet with your O2 wireless box, see the 'Related Links' to find out how to get started. Then come back here to connect your PSP. The instructions assume that you haven’t changed the settings of the O2 wireless box.

First, make sure the DSL/Broadband light on the O2 wireless box is lit green.  Then turn your PSP on and follow these steps:

      1. Make sure the WLAN switch on the left side of your PSP is switched on.

      2. From the home menu, choose 'Settings'.

      3. Choose 'Network Settings' and press the 'X' button.

      4. Select 'Infrastructure Mode' and press 'X' again.

      5. Choose 'New Connection' and press 'X'.

      6. Now you can enter a name for your connection using the on-screen keyboard. You can call it whatever you like, though we'd recommend something recognisable.

      7. Next, you need to choose the name of the wireless network you're connecting to. Select the 'Scan' option.

      8. You'll see a list of wireless networks. Each has a name, also called the SSID. Look for the SSID of your O2 wireless box in the list. It's printed on the bottom of your O2 wireless box.

      9. Select this line from the list and press 'X'.

      10. Press the right directional button to confirm.

      11. A list of security methods will appear. Choose 'Wired Equivalent Privacy' (WEP) and press the right arrow button to enter your WEP key.

      12. Type in the WEP key that's printed on the bottom of your O2 wireless box. You'll only see eight asterisks, no matter how many letters and numbers you enter.

      13. After entering the security information, press the right arrow button to continue.

      14. Choose the 'Easy address' setting and press the right arrow button

      15. Check the settings, and press 'X' to save the connection.

To make sure it's all working properly, select 'Test Connection' and press 'X.' You should see details about your network appear.

      Getting extra help

If your PSP appears to have connected to the O2 wireless box, but you can't get online, please double-check that your O2 wireless box is connected to the Internet. The easiest way to do this is to make sure the DSL/Broadband and Internet lights on the box are lit.

If you run into further problems getting your PSP connected, please check Sony's website, and the instructions that came with your PSP for help. The 'Related Links', below, are a good place to start.
