Having problems logging into My O2 iPhone app?
-
Some of you have told us that you have had problems logging into My O2 app, which we’re sorry about. We’ve discovered most problems seem to be occurring because some people have more than one account on o2.co.uk – one we’ve set up when you joined and one you may have set up yourself later on.
If you use the iPhone My O2 app, please note that you will have to set your mobile account as the default. If you don’t do this, you won’t be able to use it.
If this has happened to you, you’ll need to use the original account we created when you joined O2.- If you joined O2 through our website, you’ll have chosen your own username and password. We’ll then have sent you an email with your username and a text with your password as a reminder.
- If you joined us by phoning one of our sales teams it’ll be the same as above except our advisor will have created the account and then emailed you the details.
- If you joined O2 when you were in an O2 or Apple store, your username will have been on your contract. We’ll then have sent a follow-up username reminder by text, along with your password sent by text once you’d connected. If you joined us in Carphone Warehouse, you’ll have received both your username and password by text.
If you have only got part of your details (either your original log-in or password) you can get a reminder of the rest by going to https://www.o2.co.uk/login/ and clicking help.
If you don't have either just go to http://www.o2.co.uk/iphonelogin - fill in the form and we’ll send you your details securely. The My O2 app is not currently available to you if you have more than three mobile phone numbers on the same bill. We are hoping to have a version of the app ready for you soon and will be back in touch. You can, however, access your account information at http://www.o2.co.uk/myo2
We’ve noticed a lot of people trying to use the app late at night and very early in the morning – we occasionally do some work on our systems which means you may have problems accessing it at these times. If you do have a problem, please give it a go later on in the day. Also remember at the moment that the My O2 app doesn’t work for our business or corporate users.

Getting started with your iPhone 4
-
Here's what to do before exploring the features on your iPhone 4. If you don't want to keep your existing Vodafone mobile phone number, skip straight to Step 2. If you're joining us from another network, you can ignore step 4 and start from Step 2. If you need more help visit our help centre or Apple's guide to using your iPhone.
Step 1 - If you're keeping your existing Vodafone mobile number
Look on the back of the MicroSIM that came with your iPhone 4 and you'll see a number. Write this down - you'll need it when you come to activate it. You'll also need to write down the number that's on the back of the standard SIM in your current phone - you'll see why in Step 4.
Step 2 - Make sure you've got an iTunes Music Store account
You activate your iPhone 4 using the iTunes software and store, so you need an iTunes account. This will also be useful when you start downloading music, apps and more.
Step 3 - Back up all your contacts and calendar details
Even if you're getting a new number with your iPhone 4 MicroSIM, you'll still want to keep all the contacts and calendar details stored on your current phone. Use a quick and easy back-up service to save everything until you're ready to put it all onto your new iPhone 4. How to back up your phone.
Step 4 - Activate your Micro SIM (existing Vodafone customers only)To activate your iPhone 4’s Micro SIM, just go to our simple online form – make sure you have the SIM number you wrote down in Step 1. You’ll need to log in to My account to complete this process, or register if you haven’t already.
Please note: To use the online form, you must be a pay monthly, small business or One Net customer in the UK.
If you’re a pay as you go customer, just call 191 from your Vodafone mobile. For Corporate accounts, please contact your account manager.
If you’re moving your number from a standard SIM, you’ll know your number has been moved to your Micro SIM when ‘Vodafone UK’ no longer appears on the homescreen of the phone containing your standard SIM.
Step 5 - Inserting the SIM card
In the box your iPhone came in, you'll find a SIM eject tool. It's attached to the inside of the black booklet that has the user guide.
This tool opens the SIM tray - insert it fully and the tray will open slightly so you can pull it out. Put your SIM into the tray and slide it back into your iPhone.
Press the power button at the top of your iPhone to switch it on.
Step 6 - Activate your iPhone 4
To activate your iPhone 4, insert your MicroSIM then connect to iTunes using the cable provided - it plugs into a USB socket on your computer. Your iPhone 4 should be recognised automatically by the software. Then just follow the on-screen instructions.
Step 7 - Sync all your contacts and calendar detailsThis is the final step. Using the back-up service you chose in Step 3, download all your stored contact and calendar details to your new iPhone 4.
And that's it - you're ready to enjoy your iPhone 4.

How to optimize your battery life on an iPhone?
-
All modern phones have functions that drain battery power, so in order to help you get the best out of your phone we have drawn up a list of things to try in order maximise your phone’s battery life.
turn off your Bluetooth when you're not using it
Bluetooth is a wireless connection that can receive and transmit information, but to do this it consumes battery power. To maximise battery life, you should switch off Bluetooth when you’re not using a Bluetooth headset, transferring files or sending information to someone. To make this easier some phones allow you to add a shortcut to the home screen to make it easier to activate/deactivate Bluetooth.
To turn off Bluetooth you should:
- select Settings
- select General
- select Bluetooth
- slide status to Off
lower your screen's brightness
Most mobile phone displays are set to full brightness at first start up this can put a strain on your battery. However, nearly all phones have the facility to turn this down, but don’t turn it down too much or the screen won’t be visible in daylight. Another thing to look for is a setting which adjusts how long the backlight stays on for. To get the best battery life turn it down to around 15 seconds, or less if possible.
To reduce the screen brightness you should:
- select Settings
- select Brightness
- then adjust to a lower level that is suitable for you
watch out for GPRS 3G and Wi-Fi
If you aren't planning to use the web or download then switching off 3G connectivity will deliver a longer battery life. To do this you need to switch from dual mode to GSM only in your settings. Another feature that can affect your battery life is WiFi, make sure this is switched off when its not in use.
To change to using GSM (2G) only you should:
- select Settings
- select General
- select Network
- slide Enable 3G status to Off
To turn off your Wi-Fi you should:
- select Settings
- select Wi-Fi
- ensure that's turned off
