    • Open the message with the X beside it, and scroll up to the header of the message. The Message Status field will outline the problem.

If you don't have network coverage and you are in an area that should have a wireless signal (e.g. you are not in a basement), reset the device by taking the battery out of the back and re-inserting it. An hour glass will appear as the device resets, the device will then try to re-register back to the network.

  • Why is 'sent from my iPhone' appearing on my emails?

  • I'm having difficulties sending emails with iPhone?

    • The vast majority of email providers will allow you to use their SMTP for sending email even when using a mobile device.

There are some email providers that do not allow this. In these cases we suggest you use an alternative SMTP setting such as smtp.o2.co.uk

We recommend you use your own ISP outgoing server with your ISP username and password. If your ISP doesn't support this you can use smtp.o2.co.uk adding your full O2 email address and O2 password.

  • Why won't my iPhone send emails from one of my email accounts?

    • This assumes that:

      • you have setup other email accounts which will send and receive OK on your iPhone
      • you have already setup this email account on your iPhone
      • you can receive incoming email to this account but are having problems sending email from it.
Certain email providers have outgoing email servers which are difficult to validate. The validation attempt may, for example, timeout before it completes and leave you unable to send email from that email account.

One solution is to use a different outgoing email server to send your emails from that account, they will just be sent by a different route.
We suggest that you try using the Vodafone 360 outgoing email (SMTP) server.

You will need to register for a Vodafone 360 account and then update your outgoing email settings on the problem email account with the Vodafone 360 SMTP server settings.

There are two attachments below which walk you through what to do -

      • Vodafone_360_Account_Setup (PDF Doc:335KB) shows you how to register for an account with Vodafone 360

  • How do I get started with web email (Hotmail, Gmail etc) on my phone?

    • To use web email from the Mobile Internet on your phone, simply access the internet from your phone's browser and enter the web address of your email provider.

To use web email from a Vodafone live! phone, select the live! icon on your phone or open the phones browser, select Web & Email at the top of the Vodafone live! page, then select Webmail Links. Remember you will need to know your username and password.

If you want to pull your email direct to your phone then you will need to use the POP3/ IMAP4/ SMTP protocols (these are the technologies used by your email provider to deliver and send your emails). You will need to know (or find out) the following information:

      • username
      • password
      • email provider's POP3 (or IMAP4) address for receiving email
      • email provider's SMTP address for sending email
If you are not sure how to access the Internet on your phone, go to phone help and select the make and model of your phone, then choose Internet FAQs.
